Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is most often used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including: headaches, neck pain, back pain, TMJ disorders and upper/lower extremity dysfunctions. Chiropractors are well known for a therapeutic procedure know as “spinal manipulation” also referred to as the “chiropractic adjustment”. This manipulation is performed to restore joint mobility, easing muscle tension, and reducing stress on the nervous system by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile or restricted as a result of injury or immobilization.

Manual/Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue

Doctors of Chiropractic use either their hands or stainless steel instruments to increase blood flow and break up restrictions in injured soft tissue. Both manual and instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation break up abnormal densities in tissue, such as scar tissue, and help to reinitiate the first stage of healing in the body. By treating the injured soft tissue, range of motion may be improved while restoring proper function to the underlying joints. Soft tissue techniques utilized include: Graston Technique, NimmoCare, Ischemic Compression, Myofascial Release, Pin & Stretch and Post Isometric Relaxation.

Flexion & Distraction

Flexion and distraction is a type of hands-on spinal manipulation, which is performed by having the patient lie on a specially designed chiropractic table. It is a type of decompression therapy that helps to relieve spinal pain. Flexion and distraction is most appropriate for conditions causing low back pain and leg pain, as well as neck and arm pain. It has been proven to reduce pain associated with disc bulges/herniations, facet syndrome, spinal canal stenosis and spondylolisthesis.

Activator Methods Technique

The Activator Method is a widely-researched and effective instrument assisted chiropractic technique, which is used to treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The Activator tool delivers a gentle, yet direct, impulse to a joint with the goal of restoring motion.

Rehabilative Exercises

When an injury occurs, the surrounding tissues will react in a certain manner in order to prevent further damage to the injured region. Often times, the muscles surrounding a joint will become tight and stiff to restrict even normal motion of a joint. This tightness can lead to further pain and discomfort. Once the injury has been treated, it is crucial to return a joint to proper function and allow for normal range of motion. This is where rehabilitative exercises plays such an important role in recovery. We must reactive and strengthen the muscles that have been weakened as a result of the injury and restore normal function to all the tissues affecting the joint.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser is a safe, non-toxic and non-invasive therapy that can treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including: minor injuries and sprains, tendonitis, joint pain, inflammation, low back pain, neck pain and many others. Cold laser therapy is cost effective for patients because it helps with pain reduction and accelerated recovery so that more intense therapy techniques can be introduced sooner in the rehabilitative process to help improve functional gains and outcomes.

Athletic Taping

Taping is a rehabilitative technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing processes, while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This taping technique can be used on a variety of populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. It successfully treats orthopedic, neuromuscular and neurological conditions.

Nutritional Counseling

Dr. Rachel's Master’s in Applied Clinical Nutrition, allows her to work with patients on their relationship with food and take a deeper look into all of their body systems. Her focus on personalized nutrition means that she assesses all of the areas that could be affecting an individual’s health, and aiding that with specific dietary and lifestyle changes. These areas include but are not limited to: a person’s genetics, dietary habits, physical activity, sleep behaviors, hormone function, mental and emotional states, environmental factors, gut-brain connection, and so on.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a tradition Chinese medicine therapy that utilizes a pump to create a vacuum. The cups are strategically placed over acupuncture points or muscle with the intent of moving blood, releasing tension or adhesions in the muscles to aid in the healing of injured tissue.

Custom Orthotics

If the foot is over-pronated this causes internal rotation of of the lower leg, which can put stress on the knees, hips, pelvis and low back. Research has proven that custom orthotics help relieve pain and improve biomechanics from the ground up. They improve posture, balance and physical performance, including during sports, stand-up work environments and outdoor activities. Pinnacle Hill Chiropractic now has a BRAND NEW 3D BodyView imaging device that will produce high resolution, 3D images of your foot. The scanner uses the laser triangulation technique, which is one of the most accurate measurement techniques available.
