Magnesium. One of the most abundant minerals in the body, is also an electrolyte. Electrolytes, commonly discussed, but not commonly understood, are responsible for all electric activity in the body; this includes brain conductivity! Electrolytes such as magnesium are accordingly the reason for muscle activation, neuron signals in the brain, and keeping your heart beating. Although it is important to understand that electrolytes like magnesium, sodium, and potassium are used during exercise and leading to muscle cramping concerns, it is essential to know that magnesium is needed to maintain life in general.


Symptoms of magnesium deficiency range entirely from constipation, migraines, insomnia

and sleep disturbances, anxiety, muscular pain, etc. It is a part of hundreds of reactions in the body like nerve impulses as mentioned above and even liver detoxification. These

symptoms listed are just to name a few, as almost anything that seems to make the body feel tensed, tight, and as though you cannot relax, could be related to magnesium!


One of the best ways to incorporate more magnesium into your daily life is to find it within whole foods; almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, spinach, bananas, and avocados are all high in their magnesium content. However, accessibility or compliance to fresh whole foods is not always the case for people, and supplementation in multiple forms can work as well. Trying an epsom salt bath regularly, high in both magnesium and sulfur can raise magnesium levels as through the skin is the second best method. Taking a supplemented capsule, liquid drop, or powder orally before bed can all be effective options as well.


If you are looking to test for your magnesium levels, it can be difficult to receive a correct result as the body contains the majority of its magnesium levels in the cells, rather than the

bloodstream; someone with low levels could be put at ease falsely with normal ranges coming back on their blood work.
