Quick Fix vs. Long Term Solution

Pain is fascinating. It is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. With regard to the neuromusculoskeletal system that could be tissue damage, nerve irritation or joint dysfunction. It could even be a combination of all of these things. When people are in pain, all they want is to be out of pain. Unfortunately it takes time to successfully treat many conditions from start to finish.

The Quick Fix

Patients call or come into our office daily saying they want that quick crack and they know they will feel better. This comes after we watch them walk into our office pretty much dying in pain, can barely stand up straight and sitting down seems absolutely impossible. Honestly...that patient will likely NOT even get adjusted in our office. Getting adjusted when you are in excruciating pain can go two ways: you may feel significantly better or feel significantly worse. I can't say that people are too happy when they learn that I won't be adjusting them out of pain in one day. Unfortunately I am NOT a magician. It took time and effort to get to where you are in your pain journey and it is going to take dedication and precision to get you out of it.

The Long Term Solution

Like I mentioned above, this can take some time. Although we may experience a sharp pain instantly that brings us to our knees, this injury could have been manifesting for weeks, months or even years from repetitive motions you perform on a daily basis. These types of injuries are less likely to occur if you are careful, cautious and biomechanically sound with your movements. Repetitive and poor mechanics together are a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately that means that they occasionally take longer to recover as well. The approach that our providers take at Pinnacle Hill Chiropractic is a combination of chiropractic adjusting, manual or instrument assisted tissue work and a significant amount of rehabilitative exercises. Our goal is to educate your body on how to restore proper function, but it is an 80/20 split. 80% of the work is done by the patient outside of the office with rehab and conscious movement, while 20% of the recovery is assisted by the doctor. Patience is also KEY, so trust the process.

Ultimately, by educating our patients about their injury and why and how our treatment plan will help them recover, we see greater compliance and better results. We know that pain isn't fun, but we are here to help when you need it!
